On this free Connecticut prison pen-pal site you will find prisoners that need and want pen pals. You will also find links to some very helpful web sites.
In order to be a pen pal to a prisoner, you will need to be open minded, willing to commit yourself to writing on a regular basis, willing to uplift and motivate your pen pal, and just being a friend that's willing to listen.
Your letters may be the only contact the prisoner has outside the prison walls. Please do not be condemning or rude to your pen pal.

Prison life can be very lonely and depressing. These prisoners need and want contact with the outside world. They need your friendship to inspire and motivate them.
Great friendships have been made through pen pals.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to reduce recidivism through letter writing. We are horrified at what has become a wildfire trend to incarcerate greater numbers of people for longer periods of time. Our nation's prison growth is unprecedented. It is big business. It is affecting every single American in some way, if only in increased taxes to sustain the growth. Every dollar spent on another prison cell is another dollar that cannot be spent on a classroom. Every life languishing behind bars represents lost potential and waste.

Your letters of friendship and encouragement can inspire an inmate to improve himself or herself, to seek an education, to find employment upon release. Your letters might prevent a suicide or other desperate act born of loneliness. Your letters have the power to impact a human life that has otherwise been disposed of in that vast wasteland known as the prison system. Our mission is to help people connect with each other with one common goal: to reduce the prison population in our country by reducing the number of inmates who return to prison after they have been released.  We believe that the positive influence of regular correspondence with new friends will lessen the loneliness, inspire hope, and ultimately reduce recidivism for these men and women. We are committed to remembering the forgotten in the hope that they will one day return to us as productive members of a caring society.

The Invisible Mailman

The strangest thing happened today,
An invisible mailman passed my way,
He handed me an envelope that just wasn't there.
An invisible mailman, you know it's quite rare.
I opened the envelope so very wide,
To find less than nothing deep inside.
The smell was so faint, as I recall.
In fact, there was no smell at all.
The writing was so neat and so very clean,
So crystal clear that it couldn't be seen.
I read the words that I expected to be there,
But, all I could see was invisible air.
I need to hear sweet words, only from you.
But the letter I wanted never came through.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still deeply in love,
That will never end, it comes from above.
So, I'm writing you back, with love you can bet,
Saying thanks for the letter that I never did get.
I hope very soon, you'll think twice,
And pay close attention to this bit of advise.
I'm locked up, but only for now,
All things change, some where, some how!
I could be out there where things are much better,
With your ass in here,
Expecting a letter!!!!
